Why I want to teach:
When I was a child, I knew that I wanted to become a teacher. My parents even bought me a desk at a garage sale so that I could “play teacher.” Up until recently, I thought that the reason that I wanted to join the teaching profession was because it was what I felt I was called to do. Recently though, I realized the roots of me wanting to become a teacher go much deeper than that.
I was blessed with amazing parents who always supported me and encouraged me to do my best. I was also blessed with many influential teachers who helped me become the person that I am today. I can contribute a lot of my success to the people who supported me throughout my life. I realized that there are many children in America who do not have supportive parents or teachers, like I did. I decided that I wanted to join the teaching profession so that I could be a teacher who helps students see the potential that they have. I want to challenge them to always try their best and to see themselves as valuable. I want to give students the proper education that they deserve. I want my classroom to be a refuge for students who do not feel safe at home. I want to be able to give them a role model to look up to when they don’t have one. I was given all of these things when I was a child, and I want to be able to give these things back to others who desperately need them.
